What is it?
Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) will provide a blended strategic planning mentoring programme suitable for Community Organisations.
The training and mentoring support will be provided by the DLDC Community Development Team.
Who is this initiative for?
Community Organisations that do not currently have a Strategic Plan.
A maximum of 5 community organisations will be selected.
What is involved?
The programme will be a mix of collective workshops to include all 5 participating Community Organisations and individual mentoring sessions. Community Organisation will be able to avail of the support of an external facilitator to carry out stakeholder consultations as part of the Strategic Plan process. Community Organisations must commit to fulfilling appropriate tasks to achieve progress. The overarching goal is that each participating organisation will have its own completed Strategic Plan by the end of the programme. The programme will be delivered over a 3 month period starting from the week commencing 25th August 2025.
Workshops will include the following;
Stage 1 (25th August 2025 from 7 – 10 pm)
3 hours workshop (in person) providing a generic overview of strategic planning – What is it/Why do it/Who does it. A Template will be issued for each Community Organisation to start their draft.
Stage 2 (13th October from 7 – 9 pm)
2 hours online workshop to review work undertaken with the draft Strategic Plan and to address any roadblocks encountered. It will be expected that participant groups will have started work on and/or addressed the required content from Stage 1.
Stage 3 (10th November from 7 – 9 pm)
2 hours online workshop to review progress.
Immediately after the initial workshop, all participant groups will also be in a position to avail of ongoing mentoring support to assist with the creation of their respective unique plans.
The programme will be available to suit the majority of the participants – this will be evenings and via online platforms. Individual mentoring will be provided at times convenient to the Community Organisation committees.
It is intended that completed Strategic Plans will be ready for printing by late November 2025, with a collective launch at an event in early December.
