Barry Sweeney

Barry Sweeney joined the board of DLDC in 2025.

Deeply rooted in community development in South Donegal, Barry is a founding member of the Ballyshannon Regeneration Group and the Local Hands collective. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including Erne Enterprise, Saimer Childcare, Waterworld, the Rory Gallagher Festival, Creevy Community Group, and school boards in Bundoran, Ballyshannon, and Donegal Town as well as serving as Chairperson of Donegal ETB and Donegal Heritage Forum.

As a former County Councillor, Barry brings extensive experience in working with communities to identify solutions and secure funding across the county. In addition to his governance work, he is an active artist and musician, maintaining a strong presence in the community and voluntary sector.
