DLDC is hosting a Community Recognition Awards ceremony to acknowledge and reward the work of the community and voluntary sector.
The Community & Voluntary sector really came to the fore throughout the COVID 19 Pandemic and we want to take the time now to recognise and reward their valiant efforts. The ‘Community Recognition Awards’ will take place in the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar at 7pm on Thursday 4th November where finalists will enjoy a meal, followed by the presentation of awards, music & dancing.
We are asking members of the public to join us in acknowledging and recognising this great work and vote for the groups you wish to nominate for a recognition award.
We are looking for nominations under the 5 categories below:
| Category | Criteria |
| Best Social Inclusion / Peer Support Campaign | The campaign must have a social inclusion or peer support focus.Examples of groups in this space include active retirement groups, Men’s Sheds, women’s groups, carer’s groups, community gardens, etc.The campaign must have taken place in Donegal. |
| Special Recognition Award – A Community Response to Covid-19 | This award is for a community as a whole – not for individuals or individual organisations.The award is specifically for their response to Covid-19.The community must be in Donegal. |
| Best Community Organisation / Social Enterprise Small | The organisation must have an annual income of less than €100,000.The organisation must be a not-for-profit.The organisation must be based in Donegal (or operate in Donegal). |
| Best Community Organisation / Social Enterprise – Large | The organisation must have an annual income of more than €100,000The organisation must be a not-for-profit.The organisation must be based in Donegal (or operate in Donegal). |
| Lifetime Achievement Award – Individual Award | This award is for individuals only (no organisations).The individual must be based in Donegal (or operate in Donegal). |

A judging panel will consist of representatives from our 5 sponsor organisations and these judges will adjudicate and awards will be presented to the winners of each category on the night.

- Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)
- Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce
- Watson Hire
Each of the organisations has sponsored a prize for one of the 5 categories above.
