About the Programme
If you are over 21 years of age and in receipt of a Social Welfare payment (including One Parent Family) for at least 12 months, you may be eligible for this programme, which offers you a placement in a childcare facility while you complete your QQI Level 5 or Level 6 Major Award in Early Childhood Care & Education.
The Community Employment (CE) Childcare Scheme is an employment programme which helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the workforce. It allows you to enhance and develop your skills and offers you part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local community childcare settings.
Participants on the Scheme are placed in Community Childcare facilities which are run by voluntary committees.
The Community Employment Childcare Scheme is funded by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. The Scheme currently operates in a total of 25 different childcare settings in 22 different towns/villages around County Donegal.
