Nominations Open for 2026 Volunteer Recognition Awards

The Donegal Volunteer Centre has launched its 2026 Volunteer Recognition Awards, inviting organisations across the county to nominate the volunteers and community projects, making a real difference in local communities.

The annual awards celebrate the dedication and impact of volunteers and community projects across Co Donegal.

Nominations are now open for two categories: the Volunteer Individual Recognition Award and the Volunteer Project Recognition Award

The Individual Award is an opportunity for organisations to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of people who give their time, energy, and passion to support others. Organisations are also invited to nominate a Donegal-based community project, either ongoing or recently completed for the Project Recognition Award. The judging panel will be looking for projects that demonstrate originality and innovation, strong community impact, and meaningful volunteer involvement.

Eamonn Bonner, Manager of Donegal Volunteer Centre, says National Volunteering Week is an opportune time to launch the awards: “Volunteers are the heart of our communities, and their work often goes unnoticed. These awards are our way of saying thank you and highlighting the incredible impact volunteers and community projects make. We encourage all organisations to take a moment to recognise the outstanding people and initiatives that support their local communities.”

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, 16th July 2026, at 6pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, 26th June 2026, at 5pm. For further information or to request a nomination form, contact Donegal Volunteer Centre on 074 91 26740 or at info@volunteerdonegal.ie
