New Solutions Social Innovation scheme launched

Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) has welcomed the launch of the New Solutions Social Innovation €4m pilot grant scheme.

Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities Jerry Buttimer has announced the two-year programme, designed to enhance Ireland’s social innovation ecosystem. The initiative aims to reduce the risk of poverty and social exclusion, with a particular emphasis on disadvantaged groups.

The scheme will support a minimum of 40 projects, offering grants of €70,000 – €100,000 over a 24-month period. Successful applicants will also gain access to the New Solutions Social Innovation Hub’s networks and support, which will include mentoring, access to training, peer networking and any other support identified as critical to the delivery of the project.

DLDC is delighted to be part of the consortium delivering this initiative alongside Rethink Ireland, Dublin City University, the Local Development Companies Network, Údarás na Gaeltacht, the Western Development Commission and the Wheel.

Announcing the launch of the scheme, Minister Buttimer said: “Through the pilot grant scheme, we have an exciting opportunity to test innovative solutions to our most challenging social issues where traditional methods have simply not worked.”

The New Solutions Social Innovations Pilot Grant Scheme is co-financed by the European Union, the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
