The work being undertaken by Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) to support individuals and communities across Donegal to overcome barriers, access opportunities and make a positive difference in their lives was the focus of a visit on Friday, September 4th by Minister Jerry Buttimer T.D. to the organisation in Letterkenny.
The Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Rural Transport met with DLDC staff and Board members to hear how the organisation, as a key delivery partner for Government investment in rural and community development, contributes towards the sustainable development of Donegal by strengthening communities, supporting people into employment, promoting volunteering and tackling social isolation.
DLDC CEO Padraic Fingleton said:
“Having Minister Buttimer visit our office was a fantastic opportunity to share with him the huge amount of work our staff do on the ground to provide help where it is needed most and to support people overcome the barriers that exist. It was also a valuable opportunity to showcase how DLDC is a shining example of collaboration within communities, working alongside partners, community organisations and the many volunteers we support. It was impressed upon Minister Buttimer that continued investment in Donegal is necessary to be able to continue to address the challenges the county faces.”
