Funding Opportunities Open for Tourist Accommodation Development in Donegal

Donegal Local Development Company CLG (DLDC) in partnership with the Donegal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) is pleased to announce that Expression of Interests (EOIs) are now being accepted for tourist accommodation projects under the LEADER Programme. This initiative is part of an overall commitment to boosting rural tourism and supporting local tourism enterprises.

The LEADER Programme, administered by DLDC on behalf of the LCDC, provides crucial financial support for innovative tourism projects that align with the Local Development Strategy (LDS). The LDS, created in consultation with local communities, aims to enhance Donegal’s tourism offerings while fostering economic development and maintaining environmental sustainability.

Grants of up to €50,000 are available for projects under the Agricultural Diversification and Rural Tourism & Recreation sub-themes.  These grants are designed to support enterprises in developing high-quality tourist accommodations that highlight the unique character and culture of Donegal’s rural areas. Private applicants are eligible to receive up to 50% of their project’s cost in funding, with community applicants eligible for up to 75% of the financing.

“This funding aims to support Donegal’s position as a premier destination for rural tourism by improving visitor experiences and accommodation options. By investing in the local tourism infrastructure, Donegal hopes to attract more visitors and boost the local economy, benefiting communities across the region.” – Sinead McLaughlin, Rural Development Manager, DLDC.

Interested applicants can request an EOI form by emailing rdpleader@dldc.org.  The closing date for receipt of EOIs under this targeted call is Friday, 29th November 2024.
