A unique opportunity is available for passionate and skilled individuals in Donegal to join a 6-week Fixers Training Programme, aimed at allowing participants to learn how to run repair cafes and contribute to sustainability within their communities.
Supported by DLDC, Donegal County Council and the Environmental Protection Agency, this exciting programme will cover a range of repair skills, including mending clothes and textiles, fixing furniture, repairing bikes and even bringing Teddy Bears back to life
Participants will be trained by experts and provided with the resources needed to run their own Repair Café’s around the county, with the goal of promoting waste reduction, sustainability, and community engagement. Over the six-week period, trainees will benefit from hands-on experience, including site visits to successful organisations such as Repair and Share Foyle, Ards Men’s Sheds & The Circular Dress Collaborative, Letterkenny
Furthermore, participants will receive tailored training from the Rediscovery Centre in Dublin, which is the National Centre for a Circular Economy, leading Ireland’s transition to a circular economy and low-carbon, sustainable future.
The programme is open to individuals passionate about sustainability, repair culture, and community involvement. Selection will be based on an Expression of Interest (EOI), with training set to take place between April and May this year.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop valuable skills while contributing to a greener and more sustainable future in Donegal. By the end of the programme, participants will have the tools and knowledge to facilitate their own Repair Café which will also be support through the project.
